Boarding

Students studying at ACS (International) who require accommodation can be housed in hostels at either ACS (Independent) or ACS (Oldham Hall). ACS (Oldham Hall) is located at the ACS (Barker Road) school campus and enjoys close proximity and spiritual affinity with the Barker Road Methodist Church. Both ACS (Independent) and ACS (Oldham Hall) host students from other ACS schools and each offers modern facilities in a supported and safe environment.  A limited number of homestays with private families approved by the school are also available.

A school bus provides daily transfer between the hostel and school.

Living in a boarding environment exposes boarders to new learning experiences and develops their ability to make personal choices that will enhance their personal growth and maturity. Boarders learn to appreciate consideration, co-operation, independence and how to live with others in a supportive environment where standards of behaviour are determined for the benefit and welfare of the community. Boarders are able to make friends from different nationalities and forge lifelong friendships through living and sharing together.

Students are allocated to 2, 3, 4 or 6 bedrooms where each is provided with their own workspace and wardrobe. Bedrooms are air-conditioned. Community spaces include a study room with computer access and a common room for indoor recreational purposes. In addition, each cluster has its own pantry where boarders can gather over hot drinks and snacks.

Breakfast, lunch and dinner are served daily in the Dining Hall.

A laundry service provides full laundry facilities for boarders.

Boarders can enjoy such sporting facilities as tennis courts, swimming pools and multi-purpose courts. A music-cum-drama room is available for practices and rehearsals.

A full complement of Resident Housemasters and Housemistresses provide support for boarders, ensuring that their welfare and personal needs are attended to. Boarders are expected to follow a daily schedule, which balances time for studies and for recreation.

Pastoral staff from the Methodist Church provide spiritual guidance and, where required, counselling to boarders.
